If you’ve ever held hemp paper in your hands, you may have noticed something immediately. It feels different. 📜

Compared to wood-pulp paper, hemp paper has a more textured surface. It feels lighter, yet noticeably tougher and more durable. That difference isn’t just in your head. There are clear reasons why the touch and feel of hemp paper stands apart.

It all comes down to the structure of the fiber.

〰️ Fiber length

Hemp bast fibers are up to five times longer than wood fibers. This makes the resulting paper stronger, giving it more tensile strength

and resistance to tearing or fraying.

🌱 Low lignin content

Hemp contains far less lignin than trees, which means it does not require the same chemical processing. This allows more of the natural texture to remain in the final sheet.

Why does this matter?

In a world full of uniform materials, texture is a signal. It tells you and your customers they’re holding something different. Something honest. Something conscious.

When businesses choose hemp paper for packaging, cards, or printed materials, they’re not just making a sustainable choice. They are creating a sensory experience for their customers that sticks.
