Why Hemp?
Ecological footprint
Hemp absorbs 10-15 tons of CO2 per hectare, more than any forest or commercial crop. Our supply chain from seed to packaging is CO2 negative
Grown without pesticides
Low or no use of pesticides: hemp is susceptible to few pests because of the lack of natural predators, which means that the use of insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides can be avoided in most cases.
Save space
Did you know that four acres of trees produce the same amount of cellulose fiber as just one acre of hemp? Hemp also produces twice as much fiber per acre as cotton. When we start to use hemp for paper we can leave the forests of this earth intact.
Processed without chemicals
Our paper is crafted through a chemical-free process, using decordication techniques to separate the fibers from the stems and turn raw hemp into sustainable and eco-friendly paper.
Save time
Grown locally
In order to be suitable for harvesting, trees have to grow for 30 years. On the contrary, the hemp plant hemp grows incredibly fast and is ready for harvesting in only 10-12 weeks. Harvesting and processing is also less time-consuming do the easier harvesting and transporting methods.
Hemp is a crop grown across Europe. France is the largest producer, accounting for more than 60% of EU production, followed by Germany (17%) and The Netherlands (5%)
Our hemp-based cardboard is a testament to our commitment to sustainable production methods. By using hemp, a rapidly renewable resource, we significantly reduce environmental degradation associated with traditional materials. Our production processes are designed to minimize waste and pollution, promoting a more sustainable model of production and consumption that others can follow.
Our use of hemp supports sustainable land use and helps in maintaining healthy biodiversity. Hemp grows in varied soils and conditions, revitalizing land that might otherwise degrade. Unlike traditional crop cultivation, which can deplete soil nutrients and require extensive pesticide use, hemp enriches the soil. This practice helps sustain the land’s biodiversity, promoting a healthier planet.
Climate change poses a serious threat to our global ecosystem and human life. By adopting hemp in our production, we contribute actively to climate mitigation. Hemp sequesters carbon during its growth, reducing the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This shift to a low-carbon resource enables us not only to reduce our own carbon footprint but also to support global efforts in combating climate change.
To achieve the SDGs, collaboration is key. We engage with a range of partners, from local farmers and suppliers to international environmental organizations, to foster a shared vision for a sustainable future. These partnerships enhance our collective ability to address environmental challenges, enabling us to innovate and scale sustainable solutions more effectively.
